William Millerson, Vice President of the World Karate Federation, was elected President of Parliament of Curaçao for a four-year term.

Mr. Millerson, who is also Honorary President of the Pan American Karate Federation, was sworn in as the new head of the Senate of his country in a ceremony directed by the Governor of Curaçao, H.E. Lucille George-Wout.

Former World Championships and continental championships medallist, Mr. Millerson has acted as WKF Vice President since 1998 and has been WKF Executive Committee member since 1994. In his home country, the 8th-dan Black Belt has held many high-level positions including President of the Olympic Committee of the Netherlands Antilles or President of the Curaçao Federation of Sports, among others.

In a decision that represents a remarkable boost for the sport in the country, Mr. Millerson’s election to lead the Parliament is also notorious since it has been reported that Mr. Millerson’s appointment has been made among great consensus and with the agreement of all parties involved.
